Day 31- Wednesday, May 4
Read- Mosiah 12-14
Mark- Mosiah 13:15
Quote- "When I was a little boy... I came home from school one day, threw my books on the table, and took the name of the Lord in vain in expressing my relief that school was out for the day. My mother heard me. She was shocked. She took me by the hand and led me to bathroom...then proceeded to wash my mouth out with that terrible soap...and then said, 'Don't let me ever hear such words from your lips again.' The taste was terrible. The reprimand was worse. I have never forgotten it, and I hope that I have never used the Lord's name in vain since that time." ~President Gordon B. Hinckley
Question- How can we keep the Lord's name sacred?
It's good to have personal reminders around the house or somewhere that you will see it often ie. hanging from the rearview mirror, bathroom mirror, a rock in your pocket or pillow or a big one next to your bed. Although a memory is even better such as Pres. Hinckley's. Whatever it takes so that you will keep your covenants. I think it is fun to walk into someones house or better yet a bathroom and see their personal reminders. I just saw Alishas little notes for her husband that say "wash your hands" or "brush your teeth". But the best way is to replace the word with "aw pretzels" or "oh man" so that you are not offensive. It's something I'm working on--and since we're all human there should be something that we are working on, right?
